About

Sustainable Seniors is a 24-month European project, funded under the CERV Programme (CERV-2025-CITIZENS-CIV). The project aims to empower older citizens (60+) as active contributors to environmental decision-making, working in co-creation with youth, professionals, and local stakeholders.
By creating inclusive spaces for dialogue and collaboration, Sustainable Seniors fosters participatory democracy and highlights the essential role of older adults in shaping sustainable and democratic communities.

The Sustainable Seniors project works to:๐Ÿ”น Enhancing older adultsโ€™ knowledge of democratic rights & participation mechanisms
๐Ÿ”น Empowering them to engage actively in environmental governance and policymaking processes
๐Ÿ”น Facilitating the design and implementation of older adults-led civic initiatives
๐Ÿ”น Fostering structured cooperation between older adults and public authorities
๐Ÿ”น Promoting intergenerational collaboration for civic action
๐Ÿ”น Strengthening electoral participation among older adults
๐Ÿ”น Ensuring the full inclusion of older adult women, minority older adults, and older adults with disabilities in democratic processes
๐Ÿ”น Enhancing transnational cooperation and best practice exchange across Europe

How will we achieve our goals?

The Sustainable Seniors project is structured into 9 phases (WPs), running from 1 February 2026 to 31 January 2028. Each phase contributes to creating inclusive spaces for older adults to participate in democratic and environmental decision-making, while fostering cooperation with youth, professionals, and local stakeholders.
Throughout the entire project, Project Management and Dissemination & Communication activities will run horizontally, ensuring smooth coordination, quality assurance, and visibility of project outcomes across all partners and communities.

Partnership

Operating in eight European countries โ€” Greece, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Albania โ€” the Sustainable Seniors project brings together nine partners with complementary expertise in civic engagement, intergenerational cooperation, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion. Together, they foster cross-border cooperation, knowledge exchange, and inclusive opportunities for older adults to participate in democratic and environmental decision-making.
